Monday Mews

The following things are mewsworthy (at least to us cats.)

  • Momma is going in to learn Petfinders at the new shelter. A nice lady by the name of Helen, who does it now, is going to help her get started.

  • She is also going to help with the new look of the website, which is being redesigned. She has a new design all ready, but so has someone else. She says it doesn't matter, she just wants to be involved and on the committee.

  • She is shopping for a new camera. So far, she likes the Canon 10 MB, 20X Zoom. That means more pichers of us!

  • It is so cold in the Big Piney Woods, it reminds her of Minnesota. ( I think that is a bad thing.) Snow snow snow, cold cold cold, wind wind, wind. She hooked up Mistrie's electric heated water bowl she got from MomRobyn. Thanks MomRobyn.

  • Her tummy is being bad again (she thinks it was some matoes she ate) and she might have to go have some tests done.

Minding My Own Bizniss

Momma thought I was deep in meditations, but, I was really listening to her on the phone machine. She was talkin and talkin to somebody she called Helen. Then she said yes she would do that. So, snoopy kitty that I am, I looked into her emails and found lots of them to and from the people at PAS (Panhandle Animal Shelter.) Now I know....... she is going into the kitty rooms and is going to take pichers of them to put on Petfinders! I used to complain she took too many pichers of me, but now I am a bit crabilated! She is going to be seeing and handling and petting and loving on lots of other kitties. Yes, this is definitely big time crabilation!

Important information: Momma heard on TV this morning that Outlook Express is compromised by a Trojan virus and you shouldn't use it until a patch is developed (they are working on one.) I guess it can steal your passwords and get into your bank accounts.
UPDATE: MS has a patch on their update site. Thanks to Cat Crosssings for that info.

I Can Hear

the chimes ringing outside. That means the wind is out of the north. I know, from what Momma and Daddy have said, it is an arctic blast. Momma said Mistrie is fine, she is hunkered down in her bed in the woodshed and only comes out to eat and drink.

I am three years old today! Thanks ML for reminding Momma, she would have forgetted me!

My New Furriend

I have a new buddy. He sits under the Christmas tree with a smile on his face, all the time. My human sisfurwhodoesn'tliveherebuthasafamilyofherown, gave it to Momma last year. He doesn't pick on me, like Squirt does, whapping and chasing me. I can cuddle up to him and we share conversations, Bear and I. He understands how I am picked on, and I am the senior cat here. (I have been here the longest.) I hope Momma doesn't let him hibernate in the closet, like last year.

Our New Shelter

Mom Toni here...........I just wanted to report on our brand new "no kill" animal shelter. It was built through the help of Coldwater Creek (they got their start here and still have a huge warehouse and call center in Sandpoint.) Many of you are probably familiar with them through their clothing catalog. Anyway, I stopped in yesterday, although I guess they weren't really open yet. It is a state of the art facility! There is a grand entry way and lobby. The cats have 6 cat rooms, two of them are kittens, the other 4 are grown cats. No cages!! They have tons of toys, beds, climbing towers. Each room has a huge window that you can look at the cats, or you can go inside the room. When it is finished, they will have outside access, as well. The cats are so far away from the dogs, you can't hear them bark. There is a second hand store attached to the shelter, all proceeds going to the shelter. There is enough land, a park is planned for next spring. My vet clinic is right across the street.

Yes, volunteering again is a big possibility!!! I did volunteer work 8 years ago (that is how I found Mittens) but couldn't stand to see the cats in cages and knowing so many were being put down. They went to a "no kill" facility in 2002, but the building was small and in need of repairs.

Tagged

We got tagged by Eric and Flynn and this is what they said:

Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.
Go to the 6th Folder and then pick the 6th Picture.
Post it on your bloggy and tell the story that goes with the picture.
Tag 5 other glorious peoples to do the same thing and leave a comment on their bloggy tellin' them 'bout it. We don't know who all has played so anybody go ahead if you want.

Momma has folders and sub folders. This was the 6th folder but there were only three pictures in it. (They are filed according to the day they are taken.) She also has a folder called My Photos, a sub folder of My Pictures. She is folder nuts. Anyway, the picture below was taken back in 2003 and is some purrty miniature red roses the Meezer Dad gave her for Mom's Day.

Listening

for that long haired black cat Momma saw eating Mistrie's food last night. Momma says he is beautiful, but likes to make stinky markings on the door and wood box. (That is why she thinks it is a "he" as she has been having to clean spray.) She just happened to look out last night (the Christmas lights make the porch bright) and there he was, but took off running when he saw her. He did come back and finish off the bowl of food, later. Maybe he is in Hemlock Haven; that will upset Mistrie, she didn't like sharing the woods last year, with Winter. She thinks he lives down the road, in the people's barn.

Message From Mistrie

Well, winter is almosts here. The following are things that help you know the cold is arriving:

1. Many nights there is frost and the days are colder.
2. Momma gets rid of all the purrty fowlers and Daddy rakes and burns leaves.
3. I grow my winter furrs and look round and fat. I eat a lot, too.
4. The fairies go to bed for a long winters nap. (I said goodnight to them yesterday and tiptoed away.)
5. There is snow on the mountains.
6. Momma gets my bed in the wood shed ready, and Daddy makes steps so I can get up there easy, from both ends. They will be using the seasoned wood from last year that is on the East end, my nice bed is on the West end. There is a long tunnel between the East/West end, just high enough for me to get through, so I am really protected.
7. Momma checks the beds in Hemlock Haven and pronounces them clean and unused and ready for me, if I need them.
8. Daddy gets the snow eating monster out, and also the big spoons that Momma uses to put the snow from one pile to another (I still haven't figured that one out, but it is nice that she clears me a path.)

Contemplating Winters,

the snow and the cold
I really don't like it, guess it's cuz I'm old.

But it shouldn't matter, I am an inside cat

Reply To David Konne

Here is a copy of the letter I sent to Mr. Koone................

Dear David Konne:

After much thought, and comments from my true furriends, I have decided, rather than gold, I would like 300 kilos of nip, primo, please.

Also, I can't, at this time, send you any green papers but I do have a ton of Monopoly monies that I am sending. I will need your correct address. The last address you gave me must have had an error in it, it came back undeliverable, address unknow.

Respectful One,

Wednesday Windfall

I got this email today from David Konne:

"DEAREST RESPECTFUL ONE,I know my message will come to you as a surprise. Don't worry I was totally convinced to write you in reference of cash money and 300 kilos of gold, i want you to help me receive it and to help me investment in your country. i promise you that your% is sure for your ssistance,I will wait to hear from you so that i will give you more details on how we can get this done with out any delay.Have a nice day.Thank yours sincery,David, "

I know it is legitimate because he called me respectful one (which I am, except maybe to Squirt, who doesn't deserve it.) I am waiting until Momma leaves the room before I answer. She gets all crabilated about this sort of thing. She doesn't understand what a windfall this could be. I guess word is out about my financial expertise.

I Am Outa Here!!!

Momma went to town the other day to get her drivers license renewed. It is a bit early, but she didn't want to wait until her purrday because she has to have cataracts removed and is waiting until the magic day.....MEDICARE.....before she goes in for the surgery. By that time, her license would have expired. She was worried she wouldn't pass the eye test, but she did, so that means she can still take us in the metal monster to see Pokey Man aka the vet. She wouldn't like it if she knew I told you all this, cuz now you know she is older than dirt, it wasn't just a rumor. Oh, oh, gotta hide, here she comes........

Roman Nose Lake

Momma and Daddy took a drive into the mountains in the metal monster a few days ago.. On their way up, they saw this sign. Yes, that is snow!!!

I am not sure, but I think this is more fearsome than vishus deers.

They went to this pretty mountain lake. We can see it from the Big Piney Woods (look in our sidebar on the right with me and Mitten's silhouettes, just under our double picture ~About The Calicos~, and you will see the white peak with snow on it; that is what you see in the picture above, but the snow is mostly gone now.) She also said, with the rain we are getting today, it is probably really snowing up there now. It took them 2 hours to drive to it. Momma said they went back and forth, up higher and higher. She didn't see any vishus bears.

Investing In Tough Times

As many if you know, I am a Feline Finance Counselor. I have a lot of great opportunities such as the following:

1. Invest in my nip farm. ( I haven't started it yet, but maybe next spring.)
2. Invest in my bottled water business. I use nothing but recycled, old, mostly non smelly, milk cartons, using Big Piney Woods cool clear water. I am still collecting milk cartons before I get the business started.
3. Invest in a high yield CD (Cat Deposit.) These are fresh deposits from the three litter boxes we have, scooped twice daily. FDIC insured (Fecal Dropping Insurance for Cats. )

My office hours are 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, unless I am napping.

Solitary Confinement

Momma putted me in solitary confinement yesterday. (The spare bedroom.) She said I was picking on Patches and wouldn't let her sleep in her favorite place on the big sleeping place. Then last night she put me back in there!! Now I have to smell all over and see where she was and if she used the scratching post and the litterbox. I just want to play, but Momma says it isn't fair that I won't let her upstairs and always chase her down. I need a playmate to run and jump and box with. I wonder if Momma would get me a kitten of my own.

Stress

Momma noticed that my tummy furs are disappearing. I have a naked tummy now, like the furs have been worn off. It is stress from the Little Squirt. I need an anti-anxiety pill. No, better yet, I think I will try and open the door that goes to the out. Maybe she will leave.

Ode To The Fairies

The fairies come a calling
On a full moon night
I can really see them
With the moon so bright

They do fairy dances
In a circle on the ground
Spreading golden fairy dust
And dancing round and round

I sit in the center
As they slowly waltz on by
They sprinkle me with fairy dust
And fly into the sky

I Learned Something New!

My good furriend, Daisy the Curly Cat, taught me a furry important thing. It doesn't count as a fib, if you cross your paws. (I cross my paws a lot.)

I also think her Momma might be a fairy. She looks like one in the picher on Daisy's blog. I know they wear fowlers in their hair. Patches told me she looks like one of them she saw in the woods at the purrday party we had.

Flower Friday

Taken in late August

This was taken last year. It shows the porch, the way it was before my husband built the new one out of logs from the Big Piney Woods. He made it bigger, also, and now I have a wonderful place to hang my plants.

Fall is now upon us, the only thing left is the hanging baskets under the eaves, saved from the frosts.

Purrday Party/Gotcha Day

Please come!!!!

What: Purrday/gotcha day party for Patches, Mittens, Mistrie

Where: Big Piney Woods, by the fairy stump

When: 1:00 PST (Precious is going to be waiting by the woodshed at noon PST if you want to follow her to the fairy stump, in case you haven't been here before.)

The fairies are hosting the party. They are going to sing and dance and then sprinkle all of us with fairy dust and teach everycat how to fly! Mistrie and her bestest furriend Gree and Precious and her bestest bud Pepi already have tried it. Mittens is too scairt, so the scairty cats can hang with her (she said she will take anycat that wants to go, on a walk.) We will also play pin the tail on the mousie. (Mistrie has a real live dead mouse we can use.) Tuna cake, ice cream and milk will be served, followed by visitng. Hope you can come!!

AWARDS!!!

We have received three awards. One from The Meezers, one from Karen Jo and one from MaoMao. Oh, thank you so much!!! Now, we have to get Momma into gear to post them! She is having more stomach issues, so we are purring on her and hoping she gets better soon. We think she has a hairball!!! She says she thinks she will have to take a few more days off.

I Win!!!

I am the boss lady of the upstairs now, and chase Patches down all the time, especially at night. Momma feels sorry for her, cuz she always slept on the bed. I stay awake most of the night, protecting my terrain and killing the blanket monsters. Momma and Daddy say they are always waking up with cat furrs in their mouth. Do you think they might get a hairball?

Ummmmm

has anybody seen my new furless furriend, Sue? She is about my Momma's size and height. She talks real soft and carresses my toes and is so nice to me. She lives in the Mitten State and has a tuxie cat called Edsel and a fluffy cat called Casey. I think she has a man called Steven, too. Oh, and she wears these metal things that hook behind her ears. She says it is to help her see my purrty face. Have you seen her?

Hi, Mistrie Here

Hi efurrycat. I am just finishing shedding out my winter furrs and it is time to start growing my coat all ofurr again. Momma made me the nicest bed efurr in the woodshed. She used a board up on the top of the wood (3 rows back in, from the end) and then put a blanket and an old coat of my Daddy's that has fleece lining. Then Daddy stacked the wood around the front, so I am well hidden and protected. It is the best bed yet. Momma made steps with wood so I can get into it easy, and I can get into it from the other end, where the blue blanket is. She got some Revolution for me today, to keep the vermins away. She said there is a feeling of fall, but I like it cuz it is 70 and sunny. I also got some great Temptations from my best bud Gree. (In a purple package.) They are mine all mine, and Momma got me some more today. Gree sent me a heated bowl for outside! Now I don't have to worry the water will freeze. I have to go now, and play with the fairies.

See You In September

Hi:

Thanks so much for all your helpful comments on GERD and acid reflux. I switched from Prevacid to Prilosec OTC. The Prevacid, strangely, gave me heartburn, the Prilosec has seemed to cure the problem, well maybe not cured, but I have no more symptoms of nausea and I feel great.

I am going to continue on a break, until September. I have been blogging steady for 2 1/2 years, and need to take the rest of the summer off.

Here is a picture of a few of my 60 pots of flowers.

Going On A Short (I Hope) Break

I have something ongoing with my stomach (possibly acid reflux) and I have been pretty sick since Sue left. Thank goodness I was OK while she was here, but two days ago I went to the Dr. and got some Prevacid. Hoping it helps, no fun being nauseated all the time. So.......I have to take some time off, until I am feeling better.

If anyone has experience with it, I would appreciate hearing.

Waiting

I am waiting on Sue's bed. I think she is coming to cuddle on me.

Maybe she can see me now, I was hiding.

Momma just told me Sue is a long way away in the mitten state. I miss her. Maybe Edsel could teleport ofurr and we could talk and purr.
