Thanks Efurrycat

I have been thinking a lot about all the answers my nice furrends sent to me, about lissards, and how their tails fall off, and such. I think it would be nice to have one as a pet, then I could put my pawsie on their tail and make it fall off and then maybe eat it, or not, and then it would grow another, and the fun would start all ofurr. I could keep it in a speshul cage and torment it, yup, I could. Please send lissards.

I am in your furrever debt..

Please ignore her request for a lizard. I saw a tiny snake in the flower bed and told her I would get that for her (like that will ever happen.)

Monday Mews

Here is the Mews from the Big Piney Woods:

Hunter Allen update: Hunter, the tabby we found in the woods by Hunters, Washington, and given a furrever home by our pet nanny, Diane, (who lives across the road) is getting so big. She luvs her new home, her sisfur 'Tinky and the woofie called Scruffy, another newcomer. Here she is in her window, with a view of the mountains, the trees, and their pond. She loves spending time on her leash in the Out watching the birds, and playing with Scruffy.

Hunter Allen

The Meezer Twins update: Bonnie Big Eyes and Molly Mew are now young ladies, and along with growing up comes the dreaded vet visit to have their gardenladieectomy. They had theirs done last week, are well on their way to recovery, even going camping with Mom Paige and Dad Leigh, down on the St. Joe River at a place called Huckleberry Campground.

The N. Idaho Weather update: We went from 85 to 58 in a matter of days. Along with the cool weather came some showers (even snow in the mountains) and freezing temps around the valley. The Big Piney Woods is frost free so far, but our days are numbered as summer has said farewell, fall is here, and winter isn't all that far behind.

Mittens Pollypaws update: Mittens continues to improve. She hates the lactulose for her constipation, but it is something she has to take twice a day. She caught a fly the other day, and is playing with strings again, is out and about, not hiding anymore. The vet said to give her pumpkin, mineral oil, or metamucil, a much cheaper alternative.

Thanks

to all of you who said my blog is still my blog and it is still The Calico Girls. I don't feel crabilated or buttified anymore! You guys are all so supportive and nice and made me feel so good, I think I will go steal some of Squirt's food and then put the run on her. I might even bite her neck, just a tiny tad.

Purrs to all......

Words on Wordless Wednesday

When Momma helped ME set up MY blog I told her I would share a tiny bit with Mittens Pollypaws. It was called The Calico Girls then, cuz it was just the two of us calicos.

THEN, along came Mistrie, and I had to share a tiny bit with her....... this wasn't bad cuz she is outside and tells me what to write and nefur gits pushy.

THEN along came Precious Flower, who is known as Squirt by all who know her, and I had to share a tiny bit with her; however, she has really tried to take ofurr. She is quite pushy and domin-earring. Momma said, "how about we call it The Big Piney Woods Cats," but in reality, it is still The Calico Girls.

I really HATE change!!!

Tabby Tuesday

This was taken earlier this summer, when Patches and I went in the house on the back of the metal monster, into the mountains to camp. My one and only trip, might I add.

Award!!!

Oh, look, while the computer was at the vet, we got this lovely award from William of Mass Destruction, whose sisfur, Caroline, has been doing the destructing lately. (See their Sept. 12 post and be prepared for a lot of laffin and laffin.) Their Momma witnessed the whole thing, so William didn't get blamed for the carnage to the red gazing ball. We want to thank you, William for this lovely award! Momma is going to put it in the sidebar.

On the computer front news: Two fans were replaced, but Momma says things are still weird. When she boots up for us, so we can blog, the screen is black and says fan failure and she has to push F1. I tried to do it but hit all sorts of wrong keys. I think it is my big toes.

On the health front news: I am feeling much better. Momma pries my mouth open twice daily and I have to drink this horrible stuff and I really let out some fierce growls. She says I will probably always have to take it, which doesn't make me furry happy. Now I think I am suffering from STRESS. I may even suffer from PANIC ATTACKS, I really hate to leave home and go in the metal monster.

On the weather front news: It got down to 38 last night, although the days have been in the 80's all of September; we are in for a change, cooler/wetter. That is OK, sounds like a good time for a nap.

On the profile front news: New picher in the sidebar to reflect the change to fall.

This is Mitten Pollypaws signing off. Hope you enjoyed my ree-purrt.

More Computer Woes

The computer is headed for the repair shop, again today! The fan is making a strange, loud, noise. I don't know how long we will be gone, but I fear it will be at least until over the weekend.

911

I think we all know exactly where we were and what we were doing on that horrible Sept. morning six years ago. Our lives would never be the same, we would never feel really safe again. So many lives lost, so much damage done. I wrote a poem and would like to share it with you today.

America

Oh, beautiful for spacious skies
This land so dear to me
How could anyone be so cruel
A coward it must be

You can't destroy a land so great
No matter how you try
For America is in our hearts
We fly our colors high

More united from this awful act
We're Americans; proud and grand
We wept for the cruel injustice
Now its time we take a stand

From the rubble and destruction
An inner strength was born
Hear the chanting of "USA"
Beware, the eagle mourns

You have not heard the last of us
A country strong and free
You cannot break our spirit
Freedom is meant to be

Listen!!!

Is that Precious I hear? She has been furry annoying to me and I have been sickly. Momma efun had to holler at her and she called her a bad gurl today, after she made me growl. She likes to wiggle her butt at me and pretend she is going to attack, and she calls me a big fraidy cat. I am the senior catizen here in the cabin, and deserve respect.

Do you hear anything?

Weekends Off

Yes, as you can see, I am crabilated. Momma says we are going to start taking Saturday and Sunday off from blogging. She says we have nefur missed a day in almost two years, except when she had her eye operashun and when she and Daddy went in the monster with wheels that has the house in the back. She says we need a brake. I think she is the one who needs the brake.

See you Monday.

Flower Friday

Morning Glories

I love the bright, large, blue flowers. I have tried starting the seeds inside, to no avail. (Yes, I do soak them in warm water overnight.) Planting them outside usually yields only about 5 plants per seed package. Here, in the Big Piney Woods, they are slow to get started, so start blooming finally in late August. Maybe it is the cool mountain nights we have, or the lack of humidity. They are well worth the wait, though, even though the flowers are short lived.

Mittens

I am taking Mittens to a different vet today. I took her to her regular vet last Monday for tummy troubles, again. Sadly, the vet never got back to me, after giving me two different types of medicine. Tuesday, over a week later, and three tries to get her to call me, I
decided to have all her records sent to a different clinic, hoping I can find a compassionate person. She is on two different medication right now, lactulose and cisapride, to try and get things moving in her intestines. An x-ray was taken, also, and that was sent on a CD over to the new clinic. Update to follow later.

UPDATE.....We are home!

I just got back from the vet. I am so happy with them. Dr. Vogel, who has 5 cats of his own, pulled her to him on the examining table, sat down and she buried herself in his arms. He put his head into her fur, much like we would do. Her temp, which wasn't taken at the other clinic, was normal, her heart is fine. He said to keep on with the meds, but explained in full about how they work and also said I could use mineral oil and pumpkin. The lactulose, which I got another supply of, was 1/5 the price, the office visit was $8.00 less. He said he would call in a week, if I had ANY concerns, to call, he would get back to me the same day. He said she will probably have to be on meds all the time, to stimulate the colon. She is hiding behind the chair, glad to be back in familiar territory, and waves a paw to all her furriends.

Farewell To Summer

Momma says summer is leaving. I wonder if I can watch her, as she goes.

Maybe Mistrie knows where summer is going. I will look for her.

To Momma

Today is the day, a year ago, Momma picked me up from the vet, and made the Big Piney Woods my furrever home. Here is a poem, especially for her.

She found me in the woods
A tiny sorry sight
Kittens, two I had
She said it wasn't right

Someone cold and heartless
Had left me there alone
Life had been so very hard
I was but skin and bone

I have heard my kittens
Were angels all along
They helped her to find me
The lady made me strong

She said I have a home for you
You are my kitten now
Your name is Precious Flower
I answered with "meow"
