Haiku To Spring

Looking for springtime
It has to be here somewhere
Mom must have hid it
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I saw the snow fall
All over the lawn and trees
Where is springtime now?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If the geese come back
And the robins build their nests
Does that mean it's spring?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh, springtime, sweet spring
You finally have appeared
Now, in peace, I nap
The above Haikus were written by me, Patches, as I wait for spring.
Someday
Mom says it will surely go
Yes, I am talking about the snow
Someday, someday, away!!!
Replaced by a field of green
More flowers than I have ever seen
Someday, someday, to stay.
"Patience Mittens," Mom says to me
Winters hold will one day flee
Someday, someday, horray!
Primroses
Mine Mom said, because spring is something we are all hoping for, she would bring spring into the house, while we wait for it to appear. She went to the big sale place and bought primroses in red, purple and yellow. She put them in baskets on the kitchen counter, behind the sink, so when she does the dishes she can see them. Later on, she will plant them in the ground. They smell furry nice and give us some spring cheer. She has to put all plants up though, bacause Mittens eats anything green.
Hiding
Hi....
Patches decided to take a break today from blogging. I found these two pictures of them when they were hiding from me. It is so funny how cats, like ostriches, think you can't see them, if they can't see you. Of course, we humans always play along with this game...Mom
Mom's New Quilt
Mine Mom's sister-in-law made this quilt for her. She hand stitched the whole thing, and it took her a year to make. Mom is pretty proud of it, I am surprised she lets us sleep on it! It is called the log cabin pattern, because in the center of the quilt is a log cabin, like our cabin in the Big Piney Woods.
Rokon
Mine Mom came home last week smelling of another kitty! This is just not allowed, Mom! She said she was over to see her human friend, Cis, who has a furgirl called Rokon. Mom said she was such a nice girl, all black, except for a white spot on her chest, and she let Mom pet her and she gave Mom headbutts. I do think she looks good on that colorful afghan.
Looking For Spring
The other day I wrote about Spring. Mom said it was right around the corner, so I told Mistrie. Now, she too, is looking for it, around every corner, every tree, every bush. She checked really good in the woodshed, where she sleeps, and even went out to the big shed where Dad stores the machine that chews up grass and the water rider Mom calls a boat. She reports so far, no luck spotting it. She said she would keep an eye out, along with watching for birds, mice, blowing leaves, coyotes, peoples, bugs, in fact anything moving that she might chase and catch/eat. She hopes it won't be too long, she is sick of winters .
Looking For Mistrie
Do you see her, Mittens?
Here she is!
Mistrie wants to thank all of you for the wonderful Haiku poetry you wrote her. She says she is fine, and maybe, someday she will come inside. The weather has warmed up and she is happy.
Haiku By Mistrie
This was kind of sad. Mine Mom founded this Haiku poem, written by Mistrie, our outside semi-feral torbie girl cat. You must understand, it has been furry cold and windy here in A State Of Winter. She had written it with her paw in the snow and Mom came across it.
Alone and lonesome
I come to the window pane
Share some love with me
Kitty Haiku
Max had a good idea....Kitty Haiku. I love to writes poetry type stuff. For those of you who don't know, it is done in three lines, with 5 syllables in the first, 7 in the second, and 5 in the third.
We saw, in
Meezertails, a lovely Haiku poem to us, from Miles. We writed one for him.
Miles, a Siamese
Mysterious and aloof
We shall dream of you
Pawtrait Help
Here is some help with our pawprints for the pawtrait contest at 2Carolina Cats place. Mine Mom says this contest is furry hard and we need all the help we can get!!
1. Mittens: She is a polydactyl. That means she has extra toes so her paws are big!! (See picher of her sleepin with Dad below)
2. Patches: I have all 4 of mine toes showing and remember, I am a calico. (See picher of me below and note leg colors)
3. Mistrie: She is outside, and the hint I give is this; "black paw tracks underneath her"
Hope this helps.
Is It Spring Yet?
I am patiently waiting for spring. Mine Mom says it is "right around the corner," so, I looked in all the corners, but couldn't find it. I told her this, and she said, "Oh, Patches, that is just a saying." ......... I know... YOU said it, Mom!!! Now I am so confused, and to top it off, she said the groundhog did not see his shadow in A State Of Winter, so there won't be 6 more weeks of winter like in the States of the East. So, how many more weeks before spring has sprung, another of Mom's famous statements. And if spring is going to sprung, how will it do that? So....I sit here waiting for spring.......and if/when it sprungs, will I know it.....will I hear it....will I see it... will I smell it??
Re-Tired
Mine mom says mine Dad is tired; and, guess what.... he gets paid to be 'tired. He has time to spend with us girls now, and give us more hugs, kisses, and Dad loves (them is different than Mom loves, cuz her loves on us even when we want to leave and do kitty things.) Mom is going to be 'tired starting in March and she is going to get paid, too! Wonder if us kitties will get paid when we get 'tired. We work hard, endlessly, to keep things in tip-top shape, and we don't get no week-ends off, or holidays either. I'm tired!!!
Note: That is Mittens being all cutsey pie with Dad.
Candles
Mine Mom love candles. She has a Christmas candle she is still burning and it went sideways as it burned so she put it on the hearth of the hot metal fire box we use to heat the cabin when it is cold. Being the nosey kitty I am, I had to go over and sniff. She told me "NO," really loud, and said I would burn my whiskers off! She put it up so I wouldn't be tempted to sniff it and burn something like my little nose or whiskers, which I really need. I liked looking at the flame though; Makes me very drowsy. She told me, "fire has it's place." Guess fire can be a good thing or a bad thing.
Full Moon
Mine Mom says last night was the full moon. She says that is why I just won't settle down. I jumpy on the bed over and over, walk on the purrsons, cooing and making night noises.
Then it is time to make Mittens join me. She is always so prissy and never does anything fun when it comes to bedtime crazies. She is such a snot, she doesn't want Mom and Dad yelling at her, or getting upset, so she snuggles into Mom and makes biscuits into the covers and does her high cry, then tunnels under the covers and purrs. If she does jump down off the bed, in the night to get a drink, I chase her big time, and she always jumps back up on the bed next to Mom for purrtections.
So.......I just run round by myself, chirping, tail held high. Then I sit in the window and meditate, the moon shining on my sleek fur, listening to the coyotes howl....... It is a good night...
Fairies
Fairies...........I must wait and see what they want. I see them in mine eyes, with green and blue silken dresses and pointy feets. They hum fairy tunes to me to put me to sleep. I must try and stay awake..........
Patches
Note from Mom: I have heard from others that if you look into a cat's eyes you can see fairies. I, personally, have never seen them.......but.............
Rainbow Bridge
So many kitty blogs have been talking about Rainbow Bridge and the "cat who came before." Here am a picher of mine Mom and her very first gray boy, Mimi. He lived to be 12, quite old back in the olden days, when kitties wandered high and low and had all their private parts intact, which made them fight and yowl.( This picher was taken in Minnesota in her parent's yard.)
Mom said Mimi was such a good boy and would let her dress him up in baby bonnets and clothes and she could push him in the doll buggy. (It appears to me mine Mom didn't know how to hold him.)
This was before they knew about Rainbow Bridge and her mom told her that Mimi was up in the clouds.....
Years ago, when mine Mom made her website she added Rainbow Bridge
where people can add their kitties and woofies. I am giving you the link, if you want to check it out.
