Little Hedgehog

Hello everyone .... Patches, Mittens and Mistrie have very kindly allowed me to teleport over here and say a few words to you. The picture below is of our little prickly friend .... she is a baby hedgehog who was rescued and taken in to my TED. When she was checked over and they said she was fine, TED asked my mum to bring her home to us to release into our garden. There are lots of slugs and snails in the garden, but my mum also puts stinky goodness out every night AND some biscuits, and there's even a proper hedgehog kennel for her to sleep in.

Daisy (proud to be an Honorary Calico Girl)

Little Hedgehog is being held by Sue, my email friend from Loughton, England. Sue lives with Daisy, the honorary calico girl; two outdoor kitties, Fat Tabby and Little Felix; and oh, her husband Stephen!!

So hedgehogs eat slugs, huh? We need to tell our Mom about this. She complains 'cause the slugs eat all her hosta and make holes in the leaves. I wonder where we can buy a hedgehog for her?

I don't know if there are hedgehogs in the US. I know, there are none here in the Pacific NW. I use a posion to sprinke around my plants that says "safe for animals." When I see them, I salt them, the old beer in a pan doesn't seem to work, for me anyway.

Hello Ms Trixie,

I think we have to be careful of playing with hedgehogs, because their prickles could easily spike our noses. But they are cute.

And I have to admit, cos my mum puts out stinky goodness for her, she likes that better than slimy slugs .....

Hedgies are the cutest! Mom saw one when she went to Ottawa Canada in a pet store. He was real tiny. Are they nocturnal?

How furry of the calico girls to make you an honorary calico girl. I'm not sure what I would think about living with a hedgehog.

Mom met a pet hedgehog once. I guess they're more common in England, but they get hit by cars a lot :-(. I'm glad yur mom agreed to rescue this cutie. We has lotsa hosta, but I don't know bout slugs.

No, I'm not Ms Patches or Mittens, but I do luk a teensy bit like them. Yes, hedgehogs do come out at night which is why we don't see them too often in thuh garden. But we don't have them as pets here, cos they are called "wildlife". This little one was brought home to be released, in safety, into our garden. And I'll tell you a secret, I don't really live with her, because she is outside, and I'm an indoor kitty like Ms Mittens and Patches. We can see each uther through thuh glass door.
