Monday Mews

The following things are mewsworthy (at least to us cats.)

  • Momma is going in to learn Petfinders at the new shelter. A nice lady by the name of Helen, who does it now, is going to help her get started.

  • She is also going to help with the new look of the website, which is being redesigned. She has a new design all ready, but so has someone else. She says it doesn't matter, she just wants to be involved and on the committee.

  • She is shopping for a new camera. So far, she likes the Canon 10 MB, 20X Zoom. That means more pichers of us!

  • It is so cold in the Big Piney Woods, it reminds her of Minnesota. ( I think that is a bad thing.) Snow snow snow, cold cold cold, wind wind, wind. She hooked up Mistrie's electric heated water bowl she got from MomRobyn. Thanks MomRobyn.

  • Her tummy is being bad again (she thinks it was some matoes she ate) and she might have to go have some tests done.

Minding My Own Bizniss

Momma thought I was deep in meditations, but, I was really listening to her on the phone machine. She was talkin and talkin to somebody she called Helen. Then she said yes she would do that. So, snoopy kitty that I am, I looked into her emails and found lots of them to and from the people at PAS (Panhandle Animal Shelter.) Now I know....... she is going into the kitty rooms and is going to take pichers of them to put on Petfinders! I used to complain she took too many pichers of me, but now I am a bit crabilated! She is going to be seeing and handling and petting and loving on lots of other kitties. Yes, this is definitely big time crabilation!

Important information: Momma heard on TV this morning that Outlook Express is compromised by a Trojan virus and you shouldn't use it until a patch is developed (they are working on one.) I guess it can steal your passwords and get into your bank accounts.
UPDATE: MS has a patch on their update site. Thanks to Cat Crosssings for that info.

I Can Hear

the chimes ringing outside. That means the wind is out of the north. I know, from what Momma and Daddy have said, it is an arctic blast. Momma said Mistrie is fine, she is hunkered down in her bed in the woodshed and only comes out to eat and drink.

I am three years old today! Thanks ML for reminding Momma, she would have forgetted me!

My New Furriend

I have a new buddy. He sits under the Christmas tree with a smile on his face, all the time. My human sisfurwhodoesn'tliveherebuthasafamilyofherown, gave it to Momma last year. He doesn't pick on me, like Squirt does, whapping and chasing me. I can cuddle up to him and we share conversations, Bear and I. He understands how I am picked on, and I am the senior cat here. (I have been here the longest.) I hope Momma doesn't let him hibernate in the closet, like last year.

Our New Shelter

Mom Toni here...........I just wanted to report on our brand new "no kill" animal shelter. It was built through the help of Coldwater Creek (they got their start here and still have a huge warehouse and call center in Sandpoint.) Many of you are probably familiar with them through their clothing catalog. Anyway, I stopped in yesterday, although I guess they weren't really open yet. It is a state of the art facility! There is a grand entry way and lobby. The cats have 6 cat rooms, two of them are kittens, the other 4 are grown cats. No cages!! They have tons of toys, beds, climbing towers. Each room has a huge window that you can look at the cats, or you can go inside the room. When it is finished, they will have outside access, as well. The cats are so far away from the dogs, you can't hear them bark. There is a second hand store attached to the shelter, all proceeds going to the shelter. There is enough land, a park is planned for next spring. My vet clinic is right across the street.

Yes, volunteering again is a big possibility!!! I did volunteer work 8 years ago (that is how I found Mittens) but couldn't stand to see the cats in cages and knowing so many were being put down. They went to a "no kill" facility in 2002, but the building was small and in need of repairs.

Tagged

We got tagged by Eric and Flynn and this is what they said:

Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.
Go to the 6th Folder and then pick the 6th Picture.
Post it on your bloggy and tell the story that goes with the picture.
Tag 5 other glorious peoples to do the same thing and leave a comment on their bloggy tellin' them 'bout it. We don't know who all has played so anybody go ahead if you want.

Momma has folders and sub folders. This was the 6th folder but there were only three pictures in it. (They are filed according to the day they are taken.) She also has a folder called My Photos, a sub folder of My Pictures. She is folder nuts. Anyway, the picture below was taken back in 2003 and is some purrty miniature red roses the Meezer Dad gave her for Mom's Day.

Listening

for that long haired black cat Momma saw eating Mistrie's food last night. Momma says he is beautiful, but likes to make stinky markings on the door and wood box. (That is why she thinks it is a "he" as she has been having to clean spray.) She just happened to look out last night (the Christmas lights make the porch bright) and there he was, but took off running when he saw her. He did come back and finish off the bowl of food, later. Maybe he is in Hemlock Haven; that will upset Mistrie, she didn't like sharing the woods last year, with Winter. She thinks he lives down the road, in the people's barn.
