Gree's Visit

Update: We just got news the Meezers and Trixie are coming over to cool down in the Big Piney Woods!! Yeah!!!! Hopefully, they will arrive this evening, as Trixie is suffering from the heat. It will be so much fun!!!

Gree was here for the last few days. She decided to teach her momma a lesson, after she put her in a carrier and took her to T.E.D. She spent her time with Mistrie. They slept under the hemlock trees, visited, saw the bears, went fishing and mousey hunting, ate until their tummies hurt and climbed the climbing tree. Gree left yesterday; she was really getting homesick.

Our Cabin

This is our cabin in the Big Piney Woods. We have 10 acres, but Momma never lets us out; only on supervision walks. We would love to see your home.

Oh, there were twin yearling bear cubs swimming and playing in the pond last night. Momma got pictures, through the glass, but they were pretty far away. She will get them off the flashy box and post them tomorrow, if they turned out.
***The pictures didn't turn out, they were black. We are disappointed....sorry....

Tiptoe Through The Catnip

This is my contribution to the song writing. This is sung to the tune Tiptoe through the tulips, by Tiny Tim. Momma wonders if any of you remember him? She laughs when she says that.

Tiptoe Through The Catnip

Tiptoe to the window, by the window that is where I'll be......
Come tiptoe through the catnip with me!

Tiptoe from your cat perch, to the shadow of a big pine tree.....
And tiptoe through the catnip with me!

Knee deep in catnip will stray, we'll keep the Tom Cats away.
I'll see Miss Trixie in the garden, in the moonlight, just her and me
Come tiptoe through the catnip with me!

Gree came to see Mistrie after her Mom took her to T.E.D. She is hiding out........please don't tell anyone where she is.

Home In The Pines

Derby suggested writing new words to a song that is already written. Here is mine, sung to Home On The Range.

Home In The Pines

Oh give me a house, where I can play with a mouse
Where the sun shines in windows, sublime
Where seldom is heard; the no, no, no word
Stinky goodness is served all the time.

Chorus:
Home, home in the pines
Where the sun continually shines
Where seldom is heard; the no, no, no word
Stinky goodness is served all the time.

Oh give me a tree, so that me and Derby
Can climb to the ceiling, so high
Where seldom is heard; the no, no, no word
Stinky goodness is served all the time.

Chorus:
Home, home in the pines
Where the sun continually shines
Where seldom is heard; the no, no no word
Stinky goodness is served all the time.

A Package Just For Mittens

Earlier this year, 2 Carolina Cats put on a pawtrait contest, to guess whose paws belonged to whom. Along with the regular winner, (Timmy) there was a contest for the Viewer's Choice Best Pawtrait. Mittens, with her extra large toes, won! Her prizes arrived the other day. She is one happy girl! Thank you so much to 2 Carolina Cats for all the hard work they put into the contests and the wonderful prizes! She received a certificate, a picture frame, two mice and a bag of treats!

Patches gets in the action.. .............Mittens checks out her prizes

Wow, this is mine!............................ Yes, these paws won!

What's Mew Pussycat??

With the unbearable heat, we decided to teleport on over to visit Edsel and the The Meezers, yesterday. Mistrie stayed home, under her tree. She says she is listening for "the noise;" somecat has to do it.

Edselsmom looks even better than she did for the outdoor tuna sandwich party we had a while back. Edsel was wearing his new hat and let me try it on, for fun. You would never know Edselsmom had a big operation; she made us some shrimp that was delicious. She is so nice!!

Later on in the afternoon, we went over to The Meezers. Sammy and I compared notes on how to wake up our Momma in the night; he sure had some good pointers. Miles thought it all so funny. Mittens and Trixie purred away to each other, then went for a nice nap. Meezermom gave us tuna water before we left for home. Thanks Edsel's and Meezer's Mom!!! Come visit us anytime.

There is a contest called blogs of summer. Please go HERE and click on each of the entrants and check out their blogs. Then, vote for your FAVORITE. One vote per day, I think.

104!!!!

104... the heat did soar
104... please, close the door
104... sleep on the floor
104... let it rain, let it pour
104...yes, ice cubes galore
104... no more, no more

Big Foot??

Thanks to all the kitties who signed our comments yesterday, offering suggestions as to what the strange "creature of the Big Piney Woods" might be.

After eliminating all but one possibility, we decided it had to be BIG FOOT. Cat Crossing's Dad, or one of the five kits, thinks that is what it is; they live in Colorado, much like our mountain state, and are familiar with this creature. There is documented proof of it prowling the Pacific Northwest.

After asking Mistrie, in length, about her experiences in possible sightings, we feel pretty confident in our speculation. She didn't seem to want to talk much about it, so we didn't press her for details. She did ease our mind, somewhat, when she said "it is perfectly harmless to other furry creatures." The furless ones need to heed this warning.

Photo taken of Mistrie, as I interviewed her; note huge eyes as she talks about her experiences.

Strange Noise

There is the strangest noise outside, that starts up at dark, and goes until about 3 every morning, keeping Momma awake. It is as annoying as when Daddy does that gurgle thing in his nose and throat when he sleeps. They don't know what it is, very loud and it sounds like a cross between a duck honking and some sort of scraping. It happens in groups of 6 or 7, every 20 seconds or so! Momma used ear plugs last night. Any idea on what it could be???

Going To Waste

There are squillions of blades of grass outside, waiting to be chewed. It is so hot, soon they will be turning brown and going to waste. Momma hates waste, she adds water to the shampoo bottle to get the last drops. So I say, let me out to eat some of that nice green grass!

Mistrie....On Heat

It's summer and it's awful hot
Happy, we are surely not
Our fur is holding in the heat
The one thing cool, our kitty feet.

My Chant

It seems we aren't the only three who get stinky goodness once a day.....or less. Lots of you commented, so we aren't alone. I have made up a chant and have been using it, unsuccessfully, might I add, but you are welcome to try it out; you may get better results.

Every day
In every way
I won't digress
It's time for stinky goodness!!

~Patches Lady~

P. S. There is a rumor going around that William is a squillionaire! I bet he can buy all the Stinky Goodness in the world!

Where's The Good Stuff?

Now, Momma knows how important the Stinky Goodness is to us kitties as we grow and mature. She says I have grown, I am mature, and only need Stinky Goodness once a day, as do Mittens and Mistrie. I keep looking, though, just in case she changes her mind and thinks we need more. I see no sign of it anywhere, just the crunchies. Guess I will have to be happy with that!

MY Basket

This is my basket. MINE.......

It has all sorts of things in it, toys, treats, nail clippers, wormer, flea medicine, my halter for going in the Big Outside, more toys. Mittens likes to sneak on over to it and put her rub on it when I don't know it. Momma gave me that basket when I was the ONLYONE.

The neigbor lady, Jeannie, made it for me; well she made it for Momma, and Momma gave it to ME!!!

(It should be clear to everycat by now; the basket is MINE! )

Toes In The Clothes

Up here on this cozy shelf
I lay my body down
Toes in the clothes
Momma's shirts are all around.

Hiding from the world
Tucked away up here
Toes in the clothes
And Patches can't get near.

Edsel's Sunny Room

We posed for a picture before anyone else got to Edsel's, for the party. The sunnyroom was absolutely the best. The wicker furniture and baskets were such a nice touch. Imagine, having your own rainbow!

Mistrie didn't make it, she was tired out from hunting mice all night in the moonlight.

The tuna sandwiches were awesome, especially the tuna part. Edselsmom set up tables in the yard for all of us.

While we were there we saw Oreo, The Meezers, and The Crew. It was great! Thank you Edselsmom.

Going to Edsels

Are you ready Mittens? Good, call Mistrie, it will soon be time to leave.

We have been invited to Edsel's house for tuna sandwiches. Now, I am not sure about the bread part, but the tuna sounds wonderful. All three of us are going and we will be leaving at 11:00 Ourtime (1:00 Edseltime.) We are bringing some catnip because Momma says not to go empty pawed, it isn't polite.

We can't wait to see the rainbow in the sunnyroom. It sounds like a wonderful napplace. Hope there are plenty of beds in the sunnyroom.

We also hope Edsel'smom is up to this. We are going to give her some special healing purrs and headbutts.

Nasty Urchins

I know lots of your beans are gardening. It seems like such a waste of nappy time to me. It takes a lot of Momma's time, every day, weeding, watering, pinching, checking for bugs.

Here is a picture of the Nasty Urchins. They did turn out kind of nice, I guess, and they smell good.(We would love to see pictures of your flowers.)

On a very sad note, another blogging kitty went to the Rainbow Bridge; Hara, of Hara and Lulu on........ Please visit and send lots of snuggles, headbutts and purrs. Lulu's Daddy needs them right now.

Words Of Wisdom

I finally got my blog back, after Mittens, and then Momma, decided to post a lot!!

An Eastern Philospher once said the way to spend a perfectly lovely day was to do nothing and rest afterwards. I think that quote was mine, and he stole it; after all we felines spend 30 percent of our time grooming and 16 hours a day sleeping.

Reunited

As shown above, the girls had a wonderful time. They missed their friend, Gree, however, Zeus was just at their place and he had a huge adventure with the House of the (Mostly) Black Cats.

Here is a list of things they did:
  • They spent a lot of time exploring the woods. Mia was very excited to see all the rodents, snakes and bugs; all fair game.
  • They hid in the bushes and watched Bean Daddy feed the geese. Then he fed the fish and they watched as the fishes swarmed around, gobbling up all the feed; staying on shore so their paws didn't get wet.
  • They played kittyball pass, with one of Patches toys she, graciously, let Mistrie have.
  • They climbed the climbing tree and while up there, hissed at a woofie that walked by on a leash.
  • While playing tag, they found a a toy mousie somecat from the catolympics lost. Mistrie insisted that Mia take it home.
  • They had lots of crunchies, stinky goodness and, for a treat, some catnip. I always made sure the water bowl was full of cold water.
  • They slept out under the stars.
  • They talked about Tiffy, how sad and wrong that was, and how lucky they feel to have their furrever homes.
  • They hid when the raccoon came around and watched as it tore apart one of Mistrie's toys.
  • They listened as I read them excerpts of Max's book, which came yesterday.

After some chicken stinky goodness this morning, they played some more, then Mia decided it was time to go home. They had a wonderful time and Mia is welcome here anytime.

The Third Day

Well, Patches told me I can post for three whole days.....this is the third day.

Mistrie disappears for most of the day, showing up evenings and mornings, when it is cool. Here is a picture of me visiting with her ( you can't see her, she is off to the right, out of the picture.)

Momma's Mary Golds are doing pretty good. Daddy says they look like dandelions, but I wonder why anyone would plant a weed? The Nasty Urchins are blooming now too. The geese are all but growed up. Momma says summer is flying by; another strange expression the People use.

Too Hot Here!!!

It is way to hot for anycat. It is way too hot for me, I know that. I just nap a lot and hope for a cooling breeze. Momma says it has been in the 90's everyday for quite sometime, very hot for us. The night of the 4th, I guess, Mother Nature was celebrating because she put on a huge show of her own. The thunder kept Momma awake for hours. I hid in the closet, as usual.

Patches said I can post for a few days! She is being very nice to me since I came back from my trip to The Meezers and Brandi. I need to go purr with Momma now.

Tales Of My Travels

I decided to get away from all the company here, so I teleported over to see the Meezers and Trixie (my bestest friend) on Sunday, staying until early Tuesday morning and then stopping by at Brandi's, finally getting back home late Tuesday night.

I had a grand old time. Lots of eating, visiting and napping. Everyone treated me so nice and nobody picked on me, like Patches does, sometimes. Both Moms were super! They gave me lots of snuggles and pets, which I love. Meezer Mom scratched me under my chin lots and Brandi's Mom gave me a good brushing.

I must admit, I really missed Momma, Dad, Mistrie and even Patches. She was super glad to see me!!! She even let me have her stinky goodness.

Momma wants to thank Meezer Mom and Brandi's Mom for taking such good care of me. Also, you can come visit anytime, she says.
