Thursday Thoughts

Momma said, maybe I could be good, so she left me out in the house, last night, instead of going in my bedroom. I started out good; I stayed on the floor, then got on the bed and I snuggled on Daddy's legs, for a long time. Then, I saw a blanket monster, and had to kill it, so it didn't get Momma and chew her tosies, cuz it was right by her feet. She sat up and told me, I was inches away from going downstairs. I moved closer to Patches, who was on the edge of the bed taking her nightly bath. I inched closer and closer and then made myself real long, pushed my tosies out forward as far as they would go, until they were almost touching her. She sat up and batted at me.......well, for sure, she wanted to box, so we started a match. Momma said, "that does it," and whisked me to solitary.

Well, I slept better, not having Patches around to watch, or having to protect them from monsters. I guess Patches must protect them, as they have all their tosies.

Cat Blogosphere Honorary Day

Mittens checking out the new calendar. She found her picture and the rest of the Big Piney Woods Cats' pictures.

We are constantly amazed by the wondrous Cat Blogosphere website, and all that is done by Mom Robyn, and all the volunteer repurrters. We want to send out our special thanks to all of you for such a wonderful place, our own newspaper. So much good is done by all of you and we don't think you get the praise you all deserve. So, in no particular order, below is a big thank you to all the repurrters, from the Big Piney Woods!!!!

In honor of all the volunteers below, we would like to make this honorary Cat Blogosphere day! Please go to their site and give them special thanks, add a banner to your blog, or do some shopping.

Also, please try to help find homes for Dina and The Six Mites. Mary Lynn has done such a wonderful job of taking in Dina (MomKitty) and socializing the lovely Mites. (Mary Lynn also does so much for everyone, so a special hats off to her.) Now they all need furrever homes!!! Check out their website, and PLEASE consider one, or more. The following is posted on their site:

Thank you all for your help. We've used Continental to fly kitties everywhere, so the mites can travel if necessary -- they charge by weight, so it wouldn't cost that much to fly a Mite! If anyone wants information on how the Mites would "fly", here is the website. If you want to adopt a mite and can't afford the flight fee, arrangements can and will be made to pay it for you! Continental website is HERE.

Happy Anniversary!

As main spokescat for the Big Piney Woods Cats, I would like to take this opportunity to wish our Momma and Daddy Happy 42nd Anniversary. Wow, that is a lot of naps! Here are seven facts about them.

1. They moved to N. Idaho from central Minnesota, 32 years ago.
2. They raised 3 children, 2 boys (one is MeezerDad) and a girl.
3. They builded houses for a living, in Idaho. Momma designed the plans for the cabin, and her and Daddy builded it. It is their tirement home.
4. Daddy USED to be a *dog* purrson, I said, USED to be.
5. Momma has always been a cat luver, her first cat was Mimi, a grayboy, she had for 12 years. She got him when she was about two.
6. In Minnesota, Momma worked as receptionist for the Burlington Northern Railway; Daddy worked in the Parts Department at Ford, in Brainerd (you know, the movie Fargo, well, that wasn't actually Brainerd in that movie.)
7. They love the outdoors, camping, fishing, (Daddy) flower gardening (Momma); but love us gurls best of all!!

Patches

Pee Esss: We gotted at least 8 inches of white stuff. It fell out of the sky and made efurrything purrty and made works for Momma and Daddy. I don't know why they just don't leave it alone!!

The Meezer tagged us for a Meme........random facts about us. Here goes.......

Patches: I sneak Mitten's speshul food, so Momma has to put it up.
Mittens: I sneak Patches' and Precious' food so Momma has to put it up.
Mistrie: I have my own hidden boundaries, and never venture far from the cabin.
Precious: I wait for Momma in the morning to get her coffee, so I can make biscuits in her belly.
Patches: Momma says I am the talker of the group.
Mittens: Momma says I am the purrer of the group.
Mistrie: Momma says I am the mystery of the group. It is a mystery why I won't come in the cabin and a mystery where I came from.
Precious: Momma says I am the clown of the group.
Patches: I attack the stairs with bunny kicks when I am happy.
Mittens: I purr and talk at the same time.
Mistrie: I purr, headbutt and drool for Momma, and for her only!
Precious: I jump straight up in the air when I am surprised.

Answers??

Daisy asked a very interesting question in my post on "Things are Afusing." She was wondering where time goes when it flies by. We know we have places we go.......the litterbox, the food bowl, the sleeping places, the hidey holes, some of us go in the Out, or up on the counters (which gets the NO word in our house.) Patches gets to go out on the upper deck. But there is not one furrless one, or kitty or woofy, for that matter, that can tell me where time goes. I know there is an hour that hides in the clocky. I think, prolly, time is up in the trees, with the birdies, that's what I think.

Till We Meet Again....

1991-1992 (?) - Nov. 19, 2007

Alone and sad
Always thinking of you
Alone and sad
and terribly blue.

"But I am here," you say
With a twitch of your tail
"I am here" you say
Not sick and frail.

In memories cherished
Never to die
In memories cherished
Please, don't cry.

I have a place
Deep in your heart
I have that place
We are never apart.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Daisy's Mom, Sue, helped her to the bridge today. Daisy's Mom and I have been good internet email friends for years. Sue lives in Loughton, which is outside of London, England. Daisy came to live with her Mom Sue and Dad Stephen, 4 1/2 years ago, at the age of (about) eleven. She was an honorary Calico Girl and teleported over to our kitty napathon in January, 2006. She had a heart of gold, was timid and shy and always such a good girl, touching everyone who knew her.
She reminded me so much of my Mittens. While I never met her, I will really miss her as I feel I knew her, through Sue's many emails.
Frosty Friday
Jack Frost was here last night
The wind in the trees has a special bite
Snow covers the slopes in the mountains high
As the geese and their young begin to fly.
November transitions from warm to cold
As winter begins to take a hold
Bare trees shudder and go to sleep
Awaiting the snow so white and deep.
Soon December will enter in
And winter will say "I win, I win"
Thus, for a time, the world stands still
Bundled up warm, we wait, until
Springtime again shows her face of green
A more lovely site is never seen
As we watch life starting up anew
Something we always look forward to.
Things Are Afusing
Momma says time is flying. It is already half past November. I wonder, if time can fly, then would it be a good thing to catch and eat, I mean release? She says birds are a no-no, but bugs are OK. She also says plants are a no-no cuz they can make me sick, but grass is OK. I am so afused.
Observations
I am listening.........
We have a little, bitty, jumping, singing buggy. It is somewhere in the cabin. Momma calls it a cricket. I call it noisy. We also have a toad that gets into this thingy in the wall that is supposed to give us fresh air, and he makes a lot of noise. Momma goes outside and peeks in there and she can see him. She calls him Prince. Why would you call a toad Prince, I wonder.
Thursday Thirteen
1. We don't smell you in inappropriate places.
2. We don't bark, at everything, all the time.
3. We don't have to be walked, but use our litterboxes.
4. We purr.
5. We eat slowly, and with manners.
6. All we need is a window to keep us entertained for hours.
7. We smell good, and never need a bath.
8. We don't jump up on you.
9. We treat company with respect.
10.We don't get into the garbage, strewing it all ofurr.
11. You can leave us for a few days, and we are fine.
12.We are independent, not slobbery, but we love you, just the same.
13.We are a mystery, and all furless ones like a good mystery.
Composed by Patches, with help from Mittens, Precious and Mistrie.
To My Kitties
Painting by Nicole Jahan
My kitties give me love
Wrapped up in a purr
Sweet bundles of wonder
All covered up in fur.
Independent and elusive
A mystery to me
Strong willed, yet charming
That's the way they'll always be.
All these things endear me
To their sweet and gentle way.
I wouldn't change a thing about them
I love them more and more each day.
Ode To Mistrie
A lone cat passes
through the shadows of the night
Quietly, unseen, unheard
Pounces with delight
The tiny mouse scurries
As the coyotes start to howl
Watch out all you rodents
Mistrie's on the prowl
Falling Leaves Friday
Looking South
Looking North (I was standing in the same place for both pictures)
The last of the leaves fell right after these pictures were taken. The Big Piney Woods is ready for winter. Shovels and snow blower are handy, Husband has been picking as many leaves up as he can with the bagger on the lawnmower, piles of leaves are being burned, Mistrie has her winter coat, we have ours. The days are short now and we have had three hard frosts. The girls are looking forward to long winter naps. Goodbye fall.
Note The Following:
1. I am on the top of the tree where no cat has gone afore.
2. Patches "thinks" that basket on the floor is her basket.
3. That is Mistrie's round bed you see outside.
4. My ear is inside out, on purpose, of course.
5. We need a new tree, this one is a wreck.
