Meme

We have been tagged for a meme about 7 weird things about us.

Eric and Flynn tagged Patches and Missy and KC tagged Mistrie. Fanks for finking of us! Here they are:

Mistrie
1. I prefer to live outside, rather than in.
2. I use the path of most resistance to get to my food. I climb the high snowbank behind the garage, rather than use the nice path Daddy blows.
3. I go looking for Winter Ghost every day in Hemlock Haven, and say "hi" (Momma changed her middle name from Storm to Ghost, because she only appears after dark, and Momma is lucky to get a glimpse of her.)
4. I hear the front door open at 5:30 AM and know fresh water is out.
5. I sometimes sit out in a rainstorm, in the summerstime. Momma says my furs are so thick, nothing gets through.
6. I love to watch and play with the fairies in the summerstime.
7. I have the tiniest of toes, and a flat tail. Momma says it is a beavertail.

Patches
1. Well, being purrfect, there is nothing weird at all about me, that in itself is weird.
2. I am afraid of the Sucky Monster and the Snow Monsters.
3. I start waking up the household at 4:00 AM; nobody should nap past then.
4. If Precious or Mittens sleep somewhere, I have to sleep there, too.
5. I sit behind Momma, on the top of her chair and snoopervise.
6. I alway checked out the meat before Momma cooks it, to make sure it is OK for human consumption.
7. I get furry upset when my Daddy goes fishing, and do a great job of ignoring him, when he comes home. Once I pooped in his pants. Well, he shouldn't have left them on the floor, and left me!! I learned that from Max. Thanks, buddy!!!

We are apposed to tag 7 other cats, but I think efurryone has played. If you haven't, and you want to, consider yourselves tagged.

Big Brown Monster

There is another monster here! It is big and brown, with huge feets and a long nosey; and......and..........and.......it is alive!!!!. Momma says it is a moosey.It is 50 kittens high!!! It wuz up on our deck, cuz the snows is so deep it is following the path Daddy blowed for Mistrie, to go around to the back of the house. It is scarier than the Snow Monsters, efun werse than the Sucky Monster Momma used yesterday. I am hiding. I am sure it will eat me!!! (Patches said so.)

Snow Monsters

Precious: ...Momma, Patches told me there are white monsters on the roof. That is what is making the creepy noises, and she is efun hiding. She says they will get me and eat me or bury me in cold.

Momma:... Don't pay her no mind, little fluff butt. It is just snow sliding, as it warms up and gets too heavy. Patches likes to tell tails, I mean tales......

Winter Storm.......Update

I see Winter only at night, that is the only time she comes to feed. If I turn on the outside light, she runs. She is very hungry, very thin. She is staying under the back deck; I assume she is sleeping in the nice bed my husband built for Mistrie, completely insulated and out of the weather. Mistrie is up in the woodshed, yet we see her making daily visits under the deck. Winter is a gray, shorthaired tabby, with white bib, white paws, and one white back leg. She appears to be very young (I say she, because of her size.) I just read the following on trapping and spaying/neutering in the winter from Alley Cat Allies, therefore, I shall wait until late winter/early spring. (We got another 3 inches (at least) of snow last night.)

"You are right to be concerned about trapping during very cold, inclement weather. Winter is harsh in much of the U.S. and, despite the fact that we all want to prevent spring litters, trapping in extreme weather conditions defeats the goal of helping cats by jeopardizing their health.
The stress an animal endures from the process of trapping, transportation, vetting, and recovery is considerable in good weather. When the temperature is below freezing, with snow and ice on the ground, the cats need their energy just to stay warm and in decent health. In addition, standard trapping procedure involves withholding food so the cats are hungry and will take the bait in the traps. In harsh weather, withholding food is simply a bad idea. And when a female is shaved for a spay operation, whether a side (flank) or stomach (midline) incision, removing even this amount of fur inhibits her ability to stay warm when returned to her outdoor home."

News

The snow keeps falling, everyday, in the Big Piney Woods.

A new kitty has been showing up the last few days, to eat. It is a tabby with white paws; taking up residence in one of Mistrie's beds under the deck (she is in the woodshed right now.) I followed it's tracks and they led deep into the Piney Woods, and finally ended up on the neighbors property line, so I turned around. The cat is small, very hungry, and very wild. Mistrie would love a companion, but we are hoping it already has a furrever home. I have named it Winter Storm. It looks like it could be one of Precious' kittens. Please send purrs.

In other news, we are getting company, so won't be around for New Years. We want to wish you all a safe and Happy New Years! See you when the company leaves.

A Wonderful Gift

Momma got this picher frame from EdselsMom, Sue, for Christmouse. She got the two black kitties from EnglishSue, several years ago, and the napping kitties from EdselsMom, before she had her eye surgery. She added our pichers in, what she calls, a collage of cats. (The frame is magnetic.) It is hanging in the TV room.

The Best Christmas

The best Christmas ever
When we were very small
Sneaking down the staircase
Tiptoeing down the hall.

They were all snug in their beds
Everyone sound asleep
So we were very quiet
Tried not to make a peep

Looking at the Christmas tree
It's lights were all aglow
The moon in it's fullness
Shone down upon the snow

Two tiny kittens nestled
Under the Christmas tree
One was for my sister
The other one for me

The kittens were sleeping
In a basket side by side
In awe we looked at each other
Our exuberance hard to hide

We pinched our self in disbelief
We dare not wonder why
Running to the window
We saw Santa flying by

Scooping them up in our arms
Christmas was complete
A gift beyond compare
Two kittens, oh so sweet

Weather Update: It has been snowing since yesterday. Last night, the limbs on all the trees were hanging heavy, the ornamental crab, especially gorgeous, with an inch of snow on every branch. The power went out in the middle of the night, but was back on several hours later. The wind came up, and the snow is off the trees, now. Time to dig out, until the next round.

Please Asplain

Momma tolded me that yesterday was the shortest day of the year. It seemed to me it was just as long as all the ofurr days. I had my nap times, snack times, play times, lovin my Daddy times, biscuit times in Momma's belly, chasing Patches times, watching Mittens hide from me times, watching for Mistrie times, checking out purresents under the tree times, tem-ta-shun treat times, and looking out at the marshmallow world times. Momma putted me in my soliary confinement at 9:00 PM and Daddy let me out at 5:30 AM, just like always. So where does the shortness come in?

Support

Thanks to all of your for your support in my new venture.........interior design consulatant. Momma took this picher of me to show how grown up I am now, and able to take on the asponsiblity. She says I look like a poster gurl. I have had great suggestions on a name:

Artsy Catsy suggested "Feline Design" or "Precious Interiors"?

Mr. Hendrix suggested "Precious Patterns."

What do you think?

~Precious Flower~

Pee Ess: Hi to my handsome Beezer man!!

Pee Pee Ess: Many of you were worried about me in my speshul nappin place in yesterday's post. I was fine and lay like that a lot, all akimbo. The place is at the top of the stairs. Momma and Daddy have a bedroom that has a railing going around, and it looks down over the main part of the cabin. I love to lay their and watch the goings on. It is MY speshul place.

Oh, The Weather Outside Is Frightful

We getted more of the white stuff last night, about 6 inches, I think, and it is still snowing. We are apposed to get a big storm tonight, and there is no end in sight. Momma says efurryone knows what it looks like, so no picher is needed. Snow is what we get in the Big Piney Woods, in the winter. She laughs when they say how much ofurr places are getting, cuz that is just normal for the Pacific Northwest.

Momma says efurryone is asking "are you ready for Christmas?" She says efurry year that same question is asked. She says she is ready as she will efurr be. She baked cookies and gave them away, bought and wrapped presents, put up holiday decorations. Now we are hoping for good roads as they are going to the Oldest Gurls house for Christmas. I guess that means we are going to have to nap the day away.

I Am TWO Today!!!

Chey and Gemini suggest I become an interior design consulatant, after seeing how well I decorated the cabin. Patches says I am still too much of a baby to start my own consulting furrm. She is always so stuffy and telling me to be more grown up. I am going to ignore her. After all, I turned two today.

I have to go plan my strategies. For example, a name for my furrm, how much to charge (I think three temptations an hour would be fair,) and someplace to set up my off-us.

On Sunny Spots

To sleep
Purrchance to dream
Of mice and birds
Of sunny spots galore.

To wake
Purrchance to watch
A mouse or bird
In a sunny spot outside.

To meditate
Purrchance to think
Of mice and birds
In my sunny spot on the floor.

Pest!!

If you look close, you can see I am sticking my tongue out at Squirt. She is such a pest. This is MY chair, but she doesn't seem to understand the concept of "I was here first." I hope Momma doesn't see what I am doing in this picher; please don't tell her.

A Good Start

Momma looks at me really close and says, "I love you to pieces." I say, "Merow" in my highest squeeky voice. Momma says, "oh, you little love, you little sweetie, you make me so happy." I purr loudly and say, "Merow," again. That is how we start our day, me and my Momma.

Pichers

Momma is busy hogging the computer, for days now. She is putting together photo albums. So far, she has bought five of them, and has one of all camping pictures, one on fambly stuff, one on just fowlers. These are now done. Now she is working on one she calls The Big Piney Woods, which will be all photos taken of our home, mountains, sunsets, trees, winter scenes, wildlife, etc . The last one, and the most time consuming, is called Cats, Cats, and More Cats, (it is going to take two albums for just us!!!) She says now her and Daddy can enjoy four years of digital pichers, cuz Daddy doesn't know anything about computers and doesn't want to. It is all so furry tiring.

Rise And Shine!!!

Marching in place
On the bed, today
I am telling you
Get up, and stay.

You can't be tired
You've napped all night
The moon has set
Soon it'll be light.

I stare at you
My eyes so black
I paw at the covers
Get out of the sack!

Monday Mews

Snow, snow, and more snow!!!!

Winter has really come to the Big Piney Woods, and all of the Pacific Northwest. Even Seattle got snow! It started Saturday night, and by last night we had well over 2 feet! Then it turned to rain, so has packed, and is so heavy it is almost impossible to shovel. Yesterday, it was incredibly beautiful, a marshmallow world. The ski area is set to open on Wednesday, so hope they don't get the rain we are getting in the valley. The schools are closed and the plow has gone passed our place four times yesterday, and again early this morning. We lost reception on our dish 5 times, and had to clean it off. Luckily, we still have power, although the lights have flickered. The cats are unaffected, except when the snow slides off the roof!! Mistrie is keeping warm in the woodshed.

Thursday Thoughts

Momma said, maybe I could be good, so she left me out in the house, last night, instead of going in my bedroom. I started out good; I stayed on the floor, then got on the bed and I snuggled on Daddy's legs, for a long time. Then, I saw a blanket monster, and had to kill it, so it didn't get Momma and chew her tosies, cuz it was right by her feet. She sat up and told me, I was inches away from going downstairs. I moved closer to Patches, who was on the edge of the bed taking her nightly bath. I inched closer and closer and then made myself real long, pushed my tosies out forward as far as they would go, until they were almost touching her. She sat up and batted at me.......well, for sure, she wanted to box, so we started a match. Momma said, "that does it," and whisked me to solitary.

Well, I slept better, not having Patches around to watch, or having to protect them from monsters. I guess Patches must protect them, as they have all their tosies.

Also, please try to help find homes for Dina and The Six Mites. Mary Lynn has done such a wonderful job of taking in Dina (MomKitty) and socializing the lovely Mites. (Mary Lynn also does so much for everyone, so a special hats off to her.) Now they all need furrever homes!!! Check out their website, and PLEASE consider one, or more. The following is posted on their site:

Thank you all for your help. We've used Continental to fly kitties everywhere, so the mites can travel if necessary -- they charge by weight, so it wouldn't cost that much to fly a Mite! If anyone wants information on how the Mites would "fly", here is the website. If you want to adopt a mite and can't afford the flight fee, arrangements can and will be made to pay it for you! Happy Anniversary!

As main spokescat for the Big Piney Woods Cats, I would like to take this opportunity to wish our Momma and Daddy Happy 42nd Anniversary. Wow, that is a lot of naps! Here are seven facts about them.

1. They moved to N. Idaho from central Minnesota, 32 years ago.
2. They raised 3 children, 2 boys (one is MeezerDad) and a girl.
3. They builded houses for a living, in Idaho. Momma designed the plans for the cabin, and her and Daddy builded it. It is their tirement home.
4. Daddy USED to be a *dog* purrson, I said, USED to be.
5. Momma has always been a cat luver, her first cat was Mimi, a grayboy, she had for 12 years. She got him when she was about two.
6. In Minnesota, Momma worked as receptionist for the Burlington Northern Railway; Daddy worked in the Parts Department at Ford, in Brainerd (you know, the movie Fargo, well, that wasn't actually Brainerd in that movie.)
7. They love the outdoors, camping, fishing, (Daddy) flower gardening (Momma); but love us gurls best of all!!

Patches

Pee Esss: We gotted at least 8 inches of white stuff. It fell out of the sky and made efurrything purrty and made works for Momma and Daddy. I don't know why they just don't leave it alone!!

Answers??

Daisy asked a very interesting question in my post on "Things are Afusing." She was wondering where time goes when it flies by. We know we have places we go.......the litterbox, the food bowl, the sleeping places, the hidey holes, some of us go in the Out, or up on the counters (which gets the NO word in our house.) Patches gets to go out on the upper deck. But there is not one furrless one, or kitty or woofy, for that matter, that can tell me where time goes. I know there is an hour that hides in the clocky. I think, prolly, time is up in the trees, with the birdies, that's what I think.

Till We Meet Again....

1991-1992 (?) - Nov. 19, 2007

Alone and sad
Always thinking of you
Alone and sad
and terribly blue.

"But I am here," you say
With a twitch of your tail
"I am here" you say
Not sick and frail.

In memories cherished
Never to die
In memories cherished
Please, don't cry.

I have a place
Deep in your heart
I have that place
We are never apart.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Daisy's Mom, Sue, helped her to the bridge today. Daisy's Mom and I have been good internet email friends for years. Sue lives in Loughton, which is outside of London, England. Daisy came to live with her Mom Sue and Dad Stephen, 4 1/2 years ago, at the age of (about) eleven. She was an honorary Calico Girl and teleported over to our kitty napathon in January, 2006. She had a heart of gold, was timid and shy and always such a good girl, touching everyone who knew her.
She reminded me so much of my Mittens. While I never met her, I will really miss her as I feel I knew her, through Sue's many emails.
Frosty Friday
Jack Frost was here last night
The wind in the trees has a special bite
Snow covers the slopes in the mountains high
As the geese and their young begin to fly.
November transitions from warm to cold
As winter begins to take a hold
Bare trees shudder and go to sleep
Awaiting the snow so white and deep.
Soon December will enter in
And winter will say "I win, I win"
Thus, for a time, the world stands still
Bundled up warm, we wait, until
Springtime again shows her face of green
A more lovely site is never seen
As we watch life starting up anew
Something we always look forward to.
Things Are Afusing
Momma says time is flying. It is already half past November. I wonder, if time can fly, then would it be a good thing to catch and eat, I mean release? She says birds are a no-no, but bugs are OK. She also says plants are a no-no cuz they can make me sick, but grass is OK. I am so afused.
