Thursday This And That
First off all, many of you have asked how close the big forest fire is to us. It is south of us, in Central Idaho, close to the resort town of Ketchum, Idaho and the ski area of Sun Valley. It covers 44,000 acres and is 50% contained. 1400 home have been evactuated. So far, this year, we have been spared, but there are huge fires all around us. Now, I will give the blog back to Patches.

Last night Diane, our pet nanny and new bestladyfurriend from across the road, came ofur and her and Momma watched the big moving picher box. They watched a moo-fie called "Oh, Brother Where Art Thou" with George Clooney that Momma had recorded a while back. They were laffin and laffin and putting their paws togefurr and clapping. I stayed up in my tree and felt a tad crabilated cuz I had trouble napping. Precious and Mittens stayed upstairs and were what Momma calls anti-social.
As you probably know, Diane gave Hunter, the kitty we found when we went camping, her furrever home. Here is her picher. She is becoming quite the lady.
That is about all the news from The Big Piney Woods. Still hot and dry and Momma is hoping for rain. She says she is getting tired of hauling the snake that water comes out of, all ofur the yard.

Cat Joke
A cat died and went to Heaven. God met her at the gates and said, "You have been a good cat all these years. Anything you want is yours for the asking."
The cat thought for a minute and then said, "All my life I lived on a farm and slept on hard wooden floors. I would like a real fluffy pillow to sleep on."
God said, "Say no more." Instantly the cat had a huge fluffy pillow.
A few days later, six mice were killed in an accident and they all went to Heaven together. God met the mice at the gates with the same offer that He made to the cat.
The mice said, "Well, we have had to run all of our lives: from cats, dogs, and even people with brooms! If we could just have some little roller skates, we would not have to run again."
God answered, "It is done." All the mice had beautiful little roller skates.
About a week later, God decided to check on the cat. He found her sound asleep on her fluffy pillow. God gently awakened the cat and asked, "Is everything okay? How have you been doing? Are you happy?"
The cat replied, "Oh, it is WONDERFUL. I have never been so happy in my life. The pillow is so fluffy, and those little Meals on Wheels you have been sending over are delicious!"

Calico Advantage
Advantages of being a calico
by Patches Lady
You can nap on any color and leave furs that can't be seen.
You are always a girl (well 95% of the time) so you don't have to answer, is it a boy or a girl.
You all look different, no two are the same.
You can have calicotude and not explain why.
You can hide in clothes cuz you are camouflaged.
I bet there are advantages to your coloring. Tell us about them.

Nose Twins

Everycat is finding their nose twin. I think me and Mistrie are nose twins. I didn't have to go far to find mine. My nose is on the left and Mistrie Rose is on the right. Mine (Precious) has a bit more black.

Mittens has solid black nose leathers. There are lots of cats in the blogosphere that have black noses. Most have found their nose twins, already.

Patches is still looking, so if you think you are her twin, please let us know, she is feeling a bit put-out and crabilated cuz she doesn't have one. She has two-tone nose leathers.

Cat Blog Of The Day
Yesterday, we were Cat Blog of the Day at Flickr. However, it is for HUGE cats and kittens, and we are all pretty average size. Anyway, it is an exciting honor to be first! I think the reason Dan thought we qualified is cuz Precious is so floofy, she looks fat. What do you think? Or maybe the name of our blog fooled him (The Big Piney Woods Cats, big referring to the pine trees.)
We are happy to accept the award, whatever the reason. Thank you Dan!

Water Repurrt
I am resting up. This water business is tiring. I did send a bottle to Beezie for his nip and catgrass. He is a farmer, you know, and I am his farmer gurl!

Wordless Wednesday (Precious)
Note from CalicoMom Toni: Thanks to all of you for the lovely comments about Mittens, and your concern about how she is. As her picture yesterday shows, she is doing wonderful. She still sleeps a lot and gets sick now and then, but her eyes are alert, her coat is shiny, and she talks up a storm whenever my husband or I go near her.

Lucrative New Business
I think I need an occupation. After much thought I decided on something I mentioned sometime back; selling water. Now, it seems to me it is furry silly that the furless ones buy water, but it is to my advantage. We have our own deep well water here in the Big Piney Woods and it is furry cold cuz it is deep in the ground. Momma has plastic bottles that milk comes in, and I am sure she will let me use them. I can also use empty plastic pop bottles. I think this is a lucrative business and I should do well, maybe make enough to buy my own treats instead of having to depend on Momma and Daddy. Precious says she will help, but all she wants to do is play, Mittens says she will help, but all she wants to do is sleep and Mistrie says she could care less. Well, see if I will share any treats when I get rich!~Patches Lady~

Easy Like Sunday
Yesterday I spent most of the day sitting on my Daddy's lap! I made a lot of biscuits, bit his glasses, got belly scritches, and napped, of course. I am going to sit on his lap again today.I am teaching Momma a lesson. She played all day with her new cellophane; putting numbers in it, staring into the little screen and saying "darn." Then she kept making the other talking box ring, with the cellophane. I guess she just wanted somebody to call her. Then she called on the talking box to several people and they exchanged numbers. I don't have a number! I want a number!
(Momma says I am kitty number four. I hope she puts my number "4" in her cellophane.)
