I would have jumped on the table, and tipped the whole thing over. Mum has even taken off the lampshade on one lamp in the guest room. I can't tip it over nearly as easy then.
It's a fundamental cat law: anything that a cat can get his/her paws on is a toy. I think that the People know this, but they forget it sometimes. Then it's up to the cats to remind them about it.
If it's not supposed to be a toy, then they shouldn't make it so toy-like!
You asked Derby about the golden paw. My OTW made mine, so I could honour KC and her real golden paw, for being a tough-a** tortie, I think Derby's mom did the same. There's a couple other kitties who's peoples did too.
Of course it is a toy. My mommy sprays something called "Bitter Apple" on cords n stuff because they looks like so much fun to bite. I don't do that anymore.

Toys are defined by anything that is left out where we can see it and get at it. If peoples don't like this, then they need to be more careful.
